Best Practices

At OSI Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Melville, New York, we are dedicated to developing and commercializing high-quality and innovative medicines that extend life or improve the quality of life for patients with cancer, diabetes, and obesity.  Our commitment is to make a difference in our patients’ lives and to the communities where we live and work.

To that end, OSI is committed to our employees and we have highlighted several programs in which we show our support:

  • Cancer Access Network:  This benefit program was developed for OSI employees and their families.  It provides for easy access to credible information via several communication vehicles. The program includes an interactive web tool that includes information on cancer basics & cancer types.
  • Raising Awareness about the Importance of Screening: We acknowledge different cancer awareness months by sending something as simple as a reminder for a particular screening or hosting something as elaborate as an on-site health fair that includes screenings for cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and colorectal cancer.
  • Cancer Buddy Program: We developed a program where an OSI employee can sign up to provide support to another employee who has been diagnosed with cancer.  So, a buddy may: do food shopping, help with laundry, baby-sit, offer a ride to the doctor’s office, cook dinner or satisfy basic errands.
